Well, that was a nice break wasn't it? Did you guys miss me? It's finally fall, my favorite season of the year! I can just feel the spoopy filling me. Oh, and here are some goals for the month.
I've been busy with writing, querying, and my little sister's wedding, but I wanted to get back to the blogging schedule you've all come to know and love!
So let's start things off with a good old Monthly Goals post.
1. Finish Moonstruck by Mid-September
As of this moment, I am on chapter 15. That means 10 more to go before the first draft is complete! I'm having a lot of fun (and challenges) getting into Myles' head and going back in time by revisiting Sunshine. I know a lot of Sunshine fans are looking forward to this book so I hope I can make the story live up to it!
2. Send Moonstruck off to the most amazing editor in the world.
This is pretty self-explanatory. My editor has her work cut out for her, I'll tell you that much. ;)
3. Work on Moonstruck cover.
I have so many ideas for this cover and I can't wait to make something pretty to go along with Myles' side of things!
4. Revise As She Slept and send to Beta readers.
If you didn't know (I mean, dunno how you don't since I never shut up about it), I've been seeking representation for my Adult Sci-fi novel and it even got some attention in #PitProm. I'm still making sure it's in tip-top shape and I should have it done by the end of the week for Beta readers to give me their input. If you're interested in helping out, make sure you join the Nikki Rae Fans group on facebook so you can sign up!
5. Finish typing Bloom by the end of the month.
Yes, the Dark Contemporary has a name and it's going to be a series! I hand-wrote 99.9% of it and now I'm typing it all up and making it pretty for editing, Beta reading, ARCs, and more! This is so completely different than anything I've written before and I cannot wait to share it with readers!
6. Start rough outline for the third Shadow & Ink novel.
I have ideas, guys. I just don't know where to put them all. Also not sure if this will be the final book in the series or if there will be more. I think once I get a few books finished, I'll have room to think about and organize all these ideas.
7. Participate in #PitMad.
This is a pitch contest on Twitter where you have to tell potential agents and publishers about your manuscript using only 140 characters. If you know how much I hate writing synopses, you can imagine how much I've struggled with the decision of whether to get involved. Well, it's today, and I've already started. :)
8. Post sign up form for Moonstruck!
Stay tuned for the next blog post (next week) for the sign up form and possibly a few teasers!
9. Post at least 3 blogs this month.
I have them planned out. I just have to find the time to write them.
10. Give myself one day off a week where no working or writing is allowed.
I've been writing a LOT and when I'm not writing I'm working, or researching, or promoting, or emailing--you get the idea. I haven't had a day off in a long time, and I want to avoid getting burnt out (which is why I took such a long break from publishing before). Last week I finally got frustrated enough with what I was working on that I took a break and started reading, hanging out with friends, and watching dumb TV shows--just for a day. It's nuts how much better I felt the next day and how much more motivated to get stuff done.
And that's it! What are your goals for the month?
